I had the chance to spend a day at a great Orillia hair salon called Changing of the Garnet with Susie Maurice, hair stylist and her sister Rejeanne, makeup artist. During the day I had the chance to capture an array of beauty portraits as part of a portfolio building session for Susie – and what an amazing day it was!
I had the chance to photograph 8 different models; all with different hairstyles and makeup applications thanks to the amazing talents of Susie and Rejeanne Maurice. Without a doubt, if you’re looking for an Orillia hair salon for your next makeover, you must visit the girls at Changing of the Garnet!
After photographing Ashley’s incredible bow-inspired up-do, I had to chance to capture a bo-ho chique look on Kassidy! Here’s a little info about Kassidy’s look:
Susie Says: “I based Kassidy’s look on her personality: fluid, soft and gentle. Kassidy was the youngest of our models and still only a teen so I wanted to make sure that I chose a look that was not only fashionable but still appropriate for her age. Her curls were created with an iron – making sure to create flow by curling in many different directions. I finished off her look by adding some feathered clips; the tone of the clips matches that of her hair and adds in that funky-factor that girls her age are looking for in a styled ‘do.”
Rejeanne Says: “Kassidy’s look is based on neutrals – going for a boho chique style means you need to keep it to the earth tones. Her skin was nearly flawless to begin with (oh, you young kids – you have no idea how lucky you are) so we evened out only a few little spots and then applied both blush and highlight to give her a glow. Her eyes were done in metallic finish shadows, again to create that glow – and I even brought the metallic shadows down to the lower lash line for a little high-fashion touch. Because Kassidy was one of our younger models we wanted to keep her age appropriate so we stayed away from heavy liner and used only a light coating of mascara to add that ‘pop’ to her eyes. While many of the other girls wore pink lipsticks, I chose a coral one for Kassidy to compliment her skin tone and hair colour.”
